Spotlight: Big Eyes

If this movie does not win an Oscar, I will be heavily disappointed.

Big Eyes follows the fascinating story of Margaret Keane, who's husband gave credit for her famous paintings to where it was not due. Originally forced into the situation by both emotional abuse and antiquated household views, Margaret was led to believe that no one would buy her paintings if the art world knew they were done by a woman. As a result, Walter Keane, her then-husband, took credit as the sole painter for the series until Margaret took him to court ten years later. He was able to control her for the extended period of time by using threats and belittling her talent.

In addition to the vibrant story line, the film is absolute visual delight with incredible acting (Who doesn't have a crush on Amy Adams, honestly?). I included a few stills from the movie to show you that:

a. Amy Adam's hair is unstoppable.
b. The costume design team on this movie slayed.
c. Tim Burton is a genius in general.

I've also included the trailer, just to make things easier for all of you readers.

In conclusion, see this movie. It's going to be hot this award season.

Much love,

Emily
