Here we are, a new school, a new city, and a chance to be new people. For some folks, that means going by a new nickname or changing up their style. For me, that meant getting my septum pierced about a month into school. But, since Quaintrelle didn't exist back then, I didn't document it at all. So when my friends Phoebe and Allison (who is also a Quaintrelle writer!) decided to go into the city to get new piercings, I jumped on the chance to take pictures of their experience. It all started at about 6:37pm on a Friday night, when we headed to Insight Studios in the Noble Square neighborhood of Chicago:
Ready to go in black boots and layered coats.
Phoebe didn't tell her parents about her plans for a third ear piercing; this is her telling her parents, "We're gonna go get food in Chicago!"
Making it official and legal.
The owner's cat Indy was everywhere. Here he is watching over us in the piercing room, but he was also on the free buttons they give out by the front desk and on the owner's business card.
Phoebe being brave and smiling as a needle went through her ear.
Santi, our piercer, marking the placement on Allison's nose before go-time.
Some moral support necessary.
Allison barely crying and with a new sparkle in her nose!
Back down to the El we go!
SUCCESS!
Love Always,
Gaby
